A Bradley County man will spend 20 years in jail after pleading guilty to a number of drug and weapons charges.

Judge Travis R. McDonough sentenced Matthew Moore, 40, to 240 months in jail for one count of conspiring to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, one count of possessing with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine, and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

In December 2019, police officers were made aware that several kilograms of crystal meth would be delivered to Moore’s home in Bradley County. Law enforcement officials intercepted the courier and recovered more than two kilograms of meth. Moore’s house was searched, and officers found over $66,000 in cash and more than 145 firearms.

McDouough also ordered Moore to pay a $50,000 money judgment and turn all firearms over including his multiple handguns, shotguns, and rifles; a Chinese SKS carbine; a 40 MM M203 grenade launcher, and an ornamental sawed-off shotgun.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration led the investigation that resulted in Moore’s arrest. They were assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the 10th Judicial District Drug Task Force; and the Cleveland Police Department.

The case was a part of the Department’s Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program designed to help reduce crime across communities by combining law enforcement agencies to fight criminal activity.

After completing his sentence, Moore will serve five years of supervised release.
