Intensive drug trafficking investigations across middle Tennessee result in multiple arrests and the seizure of massive amounts of drugs, weapons, and cash.
Last Friday, the Maury County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit wrapped up a two-month long investigation by executing several search warrants, “bringing a significant drug trafficking investigation to a successful conclusion.”

With those warrants, officers seized the following:
- Over 2,000 pills – with approximately 1,500 suspected of being fentanyl or fentanyl-laced drugs
- More than $58,000
- Multiple guns
- A GMC truck
- Cocaine and other illegal narcotics
The sheriff’s office released the following statement, attributing the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for aiding with the operation:
“We extend our sincere appreciation for their expertise and partnership in helping remove dangerous drugs from our community and protecting the citizens of Maury County. The Maury County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to aggressively pursuing those who traffic illegal narcotics and threaten the safety of our communities. We thank our deputies, investigators, and law enforcement partners for their dedication and continued efforts to keep Maury County safe.”
Earlier this month, Operation Protecting Putnam County – a joint operation that included members from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Army National Guard Counter Drugs Division, the Tennessee Department of Correction Warrants Division, the FBI, and the Drug Enforcement Administration – brought charges against 22 individuals and served as a massive blow to an Atlanta-based drug ring.
Of those 22, 16 were arrested and charged during the operation, another four were already incarcerated but were given additional charges, and another two were found to have outstanding warrants on unrelated indictments.
While a number of different drugs were recovered, Sheriff Eddie Farris noted that most of the charges brought were related to methamphetamine and fentanyl.
In addition to the drugs, several guns were also seized during the operation.
Farris told News 2, “We were just making a clean sweep of the county of illegal drug activity. No one certain group [was] targeted. We just wanted to make a sweep. We noticed the increase in street-level narcotics in our area… The last four months, we’ve been working on that.”
