Governor Bill Lee signed legislation on Tuesday making the Aitken Bible, as well as nine other works, Tennessee’s first officially-designated state books.

House Bill 1828 (HB1828), sponsored by Representative Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood-District 61), and Senate Bill 1822 (SB1822), sponsored by Senator Paul Rose passed in the Tennessee House of Representatives on February 22nd and in the Senate on March 25th.

The Aitken Bible is the first edition of the Bible printed in the United States during the Revolutionary War. The other nine works are connected in some way to Tennessee.

The Aitken Bible is the only religious text deemed an official state book by law as previous proposals to make the Bible a state book have failed.

Democrats voted against this year’s legislation, citing constitutional concerns.

With this legislation, the following are now designated state books:

• “Farewell Address to the American People,” George Washington (1796)

• “Democracy in America,” Alexis de Tocqueville (1835 and 1840)

• Aitken Bible (1782)

• Papers of President Andrew Jackson

• “Roots,” Alex Haley (1977)

• “A Death in the Family,” James Agee (1958)

• “All the King’s Men,” Robert Penn Warren (1947)

• “American Lion,” Jon Meacham (2009)

• “The Civil War: A Narrative,” Shelby Foote (1958-1974)

• “Coat of Many Colors,” Dolly Parton (2016)

Also awaiting Governor Lee’s signature is a separate piece of legislation that would recognize November as “Christian Heritage Month,” and “encourage citizens to learn more about Christian heritage in this state”.

Dr Thomas Sowell who teaches on American history on Youtube interviewed the author Alex Haley about his book Roots and called him out about what he wrote about how slaves were treated in his book. Alex Haley admitted what he wrote was a Myth. I recommend everyone to watch the video “Facts About Slavery Never Mentioned In School” – Thomas Sowell

Much of America’s true history has been hidden. Many Americans were never taught about Hyam Salomon who was an Sephardic Orthodox Jewish business man that George Washington appointed as financier of the American Revolution. Haym Salomon attended ” Congregation Mikveh Israel the Synagogue of the American Revolution.” that is located in Philadelphia, PA. The financier Robert Morris was broke and could not obtain any loans is when George Washington sent his messenger to Congregation Mikveh Israel on Yom Kippur to ask Hyam Salomon to raise the money because we were going to lose the revolutionary war. Hyam Salomon made an announcement to all of the Jews in attendance asking them to give what they can and the next day they raised $20,000 and George Washington was so grateful and was able to supply the soldiers with everything they needed and they won the revolutionary war. There is a monument in Chicago of George Washington, Hyam Salomon and Robert Morris. The Post office even made stamps honoring America’s financier Hyam Salomon. You can visit Congregation Mikveh Israel the Synagogue of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. Haym Salomon also joined the New York branch of the Sons of Liberty.

There is also anther Orthodox Jewish Synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island named “Touro Synagogue” this is where our First Amendment Rights originated from. You can also visit Touro Synagogue of Rhode Island to see the history of George Washington and the jews of Touro Synagogue. The true history of America needs to be taught and why we are a Judeo-Christian nation. Jews and Christians both were in the colonies and side by side they both fought in the wars and founded America together.
