The Tennessee Conservative [By David Seal] –
Congressman Tim Burchett (R-Tennessee) has filed a tax relief bill for Americans that is based on the proceeds generated from tariffs imposed by President Trump.
Unlike the $1000.00 Covid Relief Payments that added to the national debt during the Biden Administration, the legislation proposed by Burchett is based on increasing the standard deductions on tax filings and using money generated by tariffs to pay for them, not increasing the national debt.
Burchett, interviewed for this article, stated that his legislation would not devalue the Dollar or cause inflation like the Covid payments did.
As of publication time of this news report, the National Debt is listed at $38.5 trillion.

The “Trump Tariff Rebate Act” would increase the standard deduction for taxpaying Americans. By increasing the standard deduction, taxpayers would be placed in lower tax brackets, resulting in lower annual tax obligations. Thanks to President Trump’s tariff revenue, taxes could be lowered through the TTRA.
The Trump Tariff Rebate Act (TTRA) includes the following standard deduction increases for all tax-paying Americans:
- $4,000 for joint filers and surviving spouses
- $3,000 for heads of household
- $2,000 for all other Americans
In a Media Release issued on December 17, 2025, the congressman commented as follows.
“When I first decided to run for Congress, one of my top priorities was to ensure that folks spend less of their hard-earned dollars in taxes. That hasn’t changed. The Trump Tariff Rebate Act is simple: lower taxes, and more money in your pocket.” – said Congressman Tim Burchett
