A Clarksville teacher has been arrested after a Montgomery County grand jury indicted him on charges of statutory rape.
34-year-old Steven Hirschi was arrested on December 16 and is charged with three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and one count of tampering with evidence.
The indictment states that between April 5 and May 16 Hirschi used his “position of power” to engage in the sexual penetration of a 17-year-old victim.
Prosecutors also allege that Hirschi used oral, written, or electronic communication during the same period of time to “command, persuade, induce, or cause” to either engage in or simulate sexual activity while allowing him to watch.
Additional charges allege that Hirschi showed the victim materials that simulated sexual activity, either directly through web cameras or through electronic communication.
Hirschi has been employed as a teacher at Northeast High School in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System since 2018.
“In May 2025, CMCSS was made aware of the allegations and immediately placed him on alternative worksite, prohibiting him from having any contact with students, pending the outcome of the law enforcement and DCS investigations,” CMCSS spokesman Anthony Johnson said in a statement. “CMCSS fully cooperates with law enforcement and DCS investigations.”
The district confirmed that he has been placed on unpaid leave since they were made aware of his arrest, and they are taking steps to follow state law regarding termination of a teacher.
