Press Release –
Bryan Richey, in just his freshman year as State Representative from Maryville, has been recognized by the Conservative Club of Tellico as Tennessee Conservative of the Year. The Conservative Club of Tellico is a 1300 member 501C4 organization located in Loudon, Tn.
Mr. Richey defeated the incumbent Republican opponent, Robert Ramsey in the primary winning 64.8% of the vote in the 60th Congressional District and went on to win in the general election in 2022.
Bryan is a Navy veteran and businessman who is married with 2 children. Bryan and his family loved the natural beauty of East Tennessee and moved from Florida in 2017.
Individuals who run for public office do so for many varied reasons, but what they have in common is passion for the causes they believe in. Bryan, 40, was not politically motivated or involved until a bill was passed in the Tennessee legislature that adversely impacted the business he owned. That event caused Bryan to closely examine the policies of the individuals who were elected to represent him at the state level. What he discovered motivated him to challenge a long time incumbent.
After winning the election, Bryan and other freshman legislators were advised by senior legislators to spend the first year or so observing and learning rather than taking a more active role. Bryan’s reaction was that his constituents didn’t elect him to be inactive or passive. Accordingly he sponsored and co- sponsored numerous bills supportive of conservative values, several of which have been passed into law.
The following are just a few of the laws that he sponsored or co-sponsored:
HB0001 – A law pertaining to the prohibition of medical procedures to minors for the purpose of enabling them to identify or live an identity inconsistent with their sex.
HB0009 – creates as an offense any person engaging in an adult cabaret performance which could be viewed by a person who is not an adult.
HB1445 – Prohibits certain educational institutions from allowing individuals using the institutions network, access to platforms affiliated with the Peoples Republic of China
HB80892 – Expands reporting requirements involving assault, battery or vandalism offenses committed by a student on school property. Provides educators the right to receive benefits due to injuries they sustained in the course of their employment.
HB0068 – Expands the number of children and students eligible for access to after school learning camps.
On the House Floor, Representative Richey made a motion to amend the current rules of procedure for how member of House Committees and Subcommittees cast their vote. The motion was in favor of roll call votes vs. voice votes. The roll call votes provides the public knowledge of their representatives voting records, which Richey feels is important. He also sponsored a bill establishing a referendum process by which the electorate of a local government may vote to establish term limits. He co-sponsored a bill that prohibits local governments from expanding funds to be used for the purposes of abortions and a bill that deletes provisions authorizing the establishment of convenient voting centers.
For his dedication to conservative values, his voting record and sponsorship of bills consistent with those values, the Conservative Club of Tellico recognized State Representative Bryan Richey as Tennessee Conservative of the year. This award will be presented to Representative Richey by club President, Rick Dramm on May 3rd at a club meeting attended by many of its members. Congratulations to Bryan for this achievement.
Conservative Club of Tellico meets every Wednesday morning at 8:30am. The meeting is at Little Italy in Tellico Village at 316 Lakeside Plaza. All are welcome for breakfast and fellowship.

Awesome to hear, I voted for Richey. Glad he’s putting action into words. To many times politicians are all talk and no action, including Gov Lee and other RINO’s. Good job Bryan!
Hopefully Brandon through The Tennessee Conservative News can keep us informed of the races leading up to the Republican Primary next August where solid conservative candidates who are worthy of financial support are seriously challenging centrists/tepid conservatives. Slowly but surely lets convert the Southern Democrat Republican Party to the Conservative Republican Party so we can have more Bryan Richeys in the General Assembly.
