Tennessee Conservative News Staff –
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has announced charges of tampering with government records against the Fentress County Sheriff and a former Fentress County Detective.
Sheriff Michael “Bigfoot” Reagon and former detective Jerry Mifflin were indicted by a Fentress County grand jury on November 20. Both men were booked; Mifflin was given a $10,000 bond and Reagon was released on his own recognizance.
The TBI’s investigation began in April after it was alleged that Reagon was directing Mifflin to alter the sheriff’s in-service training records. The investigation revealed that Reagon had instructed Mifflin to falsify documents to show that Reagon had completed the trainings required by the Tennessee Peace Officers Standard and Training Commission. Reagon allegedly received a salary supplement because of the fraudulent records.

Chief Deputy Hunter Fowler released a statement on behalf of the department:
“Today, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation executed an indictment involving Sheriff Michael “Bigfoot” Reagan. Following the legal process, he was booked into the Fentress County Sheriff’s Justice Center in accordance with standard procedure.
I want to assure our citizens that this agency will continue to function at the highest professional standards. Our patrol operations, investigations, emergency response, corrections, and public safety services will all proceed as normal. The safety and stability of Fentress County remains our top priority.
Our commitment to transparency, accountability, and service to you all remains unchanged. We ask for patience and trust as we move forward and continue working to protect and serve the people of Fentress County.”
