A gang leader known to have connections to Knoxville has been arrested after leading police on a chase through Kingsport before crashing in Virginia.

According to the U.S. Marshalls, the pursuit of Jametrick Franklin King began in Kingsport when they were working with the Tennessee Highway Patrol to arrest him.

He was wanted in Washington County for alleged violation of probation and burglary, and was also indicted on a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.

King spotted a marked police vehicle as they attempted to move in to arrest him. He then fled in a rented black Jeep, speeding more than 100 miles per hour. After traveling northbound on I-81, he crossed the state line into Virginia and ended up crashing.

He was taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center and was found to be unharmed. He was later booked into the Carter County Jail to await court.

King has had a number of run-ins with police in the past. Those former charges have included aggravated burglary, drug charges, and resisting/evading arrest. He is also known to be a leader in the Gangster Disciples, a street gang in Knoxville.
