An L.A. County, California man and his business have been found to be involved in one of the largest drug busts Nashville police have ever seen.
Mailbox Toluca Lake, while known for providing actors with secure mailboxes, served as the central hub for a methamphetamine distribution network connecting Los Angeles and Nashville.
“We believe that members of this drug operation used addresses of unsuspecting local residents to which the parcels would be shipped and then quickly retrieved right after the delivery trucks drove away,” said Nashville Police Chief John Drake.
The shop’s owner, Jonathan Kramer, is one of 13 people who have been charged for their role in the alleged operation. Three other Californians are also facing charges, among them the alleged ringleader Francisco Serrano, who police say was sourcing the meth shipments sent to Nashville. Serrano was extradited to Nashville in November 2024.
Kramer has been charged with engaging in a meth conspiracy and possessing meth for resale.
FedEx alerted authorities in 2022 about suspicious packages originating from Mailbox Toluca Lake. Police seized more than 260 pounds of meth in the early stages of their investigation.
According to detectives, the suspects often used rental cars to pick up the shipments, which they confirmed contained meth. Additional shipments continued to pass through the store as investigators tracked the suspects.
Authorities believe approximately 5,000 pounds of meth were transported between California and Nashville during the course of the scheme.
“This investigation exemplifies how collaboration with law enforcement partners produces the greatest success in safeguarding our communities against criminal elements,” said DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge Matthew Daly. “Middle Tennessee is a safer place today because of the dedication and perseverance by so many of our law enforcement partners.”
