The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –
In a letter dated October 17th, 2022, City Manager Craig Tindall has banned the organizers of the Boro Pride Festival from further use of City property.
The Tennessee Equality Project Foundation (TEPF) hosted the Boro Pride Festival a month earlier in September. A portion of the “family friendly” event was shared by Robby and Landon Starbuck on social media.
In the letter addressed to TEPF, Tindall wrote:
It has come to my attention that the event your organization hosted on September 17th, 2022 at a City facility, Cannonsburgh violated City ordinances.
The event was promoted by your organization as “family friendly,” among other descriptions. Your permit application also stated your event was an “all ages community festival.” Having reviewed video of conduct during a portion of the event, I believe these promotional descriptions were misleading and your application submitted to the City contained material misrepresentation.
The portion of event was far from “family friendly” and clearly unsuitable for “all ages.” The event contained conduct and speech of an explicitly sexual nature, which is a clear violation of the terms of the permit issued to your organization as it violates Murfreesboro City Code. 4-88. More offensively, your event intentionally exposed young children to this conduct, in clear violation of Tennessee Statute, Title 39, Chapter 17 and Murfreesboro City Code 21-73. As a result, I will deny future special events permit submitted by your organization.
Additionally, the misrepresentation of your event and violations of City Code precludes your entering into further rental agreements with the Parks and Recreation Department. The above described conduct, specifically the exposure of children to a harmful prurient interest, is inconsistent with the community standards of Murfreesboro. In fact, it is my belief that the conduct was specifically presented to denigrate and diminish those standards. The type of conduct described above is unacceptable and inconsistent with the use of City property.
In a Facebook post, the Starbucks thanked residents for taking action.
“After we exposed the Boro Pride all ages drag show YOU took action and called on officials to step in. We have great news today: Your activism worked. The city just sent a letter banning the organizer from organizing any future events on city property! We don’t just post these videos to show how evil it all is — we post them to change things! With your help that’s exactly what’s happening!”

Awesome! Would the city manager like to run for governor?
Great job by the City of Murfreesboro. Our youth do not need to be exposed to perverted, distorted and dysfunctional sexual exploitation.

well he appears to be able to somethings right when hes not beholden to the home builders assoc. and their secular agenda with the local planning commission.
My husband and I are recent transplants from San Diego and are committed to staying in the fray as we were there. We make no assumptions that because we are now in a red state that it can’t change…and quickly. Right away I started following your emails. Thank you so much for your efforts to keep us in the know. And thanks to the Starbucks for their efforts to expose these events to protect the children of TN. Major kudos to Murfreesboro City Manager Craig Tindall. I will be writing to encourage both Mr. Tindall and the Murfreesboro Mayor to stand strong. I suggest that each of your followers do the same. How important it is in these times to strengthen each other’s voices and resolves. You can bet that the community defending this practice will be at the 12/1 special session in force with their public comments. May concerned Tennesseans show up in mass to be the much-needed counterpoint.
