The Tennessee Conservative Staff –
U.S. citizens arriving on international flights to Nashville International Airport (BNA) will now be able to make it through customs a little quicker with the newly launched Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP) from BigBear.ai.

The EPP system will use VeriScan, a biometric technology, to capture a live facial image of travelers who are returning from international travels and compare it against existing government records. This eliminates the need for eligible U.S. citizens to present a physical passport during entry processing, significantly reducing wait times and easing congestion at customs checkpoints.
Travelers whose identities are successfully verified by the system can proceed without presenting additional documentation. Those requiring further checks are referred to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers for secondary screening.
According to BigBear.ai, airports that have previously adopted the EPP system have reported improvements in average processing times, particularly during peak arrival hours. The technology is designed not only to improve operational efficiency but also to enhance overall passenger satisfaction.

“Our Enhanced Passenger Processing system reflects our commitment to transforming the travel experience through advanced AI and biometric solutions,” said a spokesperson from BigBear.ai. “By automating identity verification with facial recognition, we’re helping airports like BNA manage growing international traffic with greater speed and security.”
BNA joins a growing list of U.S. airports implementing biometric solutions to handle rising international travel volumes while maintaining security and compliance with CBP protocols.
