A man running an unlicensed daycare with his wife in their Antioch home has been charged with 26 counts related to sexual abuse of a minor.

55-year-old Imran “Ron” Malik was charged after one of the alleged victims reported the abuse in January, stating that it began in 2015 when she was five years old.

After nearly a year of investigation, policed discovered that Malik had raped two girls under the age of 10 while running the unlicensed daycare. The abuse lasted nearly four years.

Malik is charged with 14 counts of rape of a child, eight counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of aggravated rape of a child, and two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child.

He is being held on a $260,000 bond.

According to documents from the Department of Human Services, Malik and his wife Molly Sinclair had received a number of warnings, dating back to 2015, in regards to running the unlicensed facility.

The documents also showed that more than 22 children had been kept in the daycare. The couple understood that they were not to be running the daycare and would move children to Malik’s sister’s home next door any time officials showed up to investigate.

Sinclair pleaded guilty to running the unlicensed daycare back in November and was banned from keeping any children in her home in the future.

Parents of the victims want to see Sinclair charged as well for her role in allowing the abuse to take place.

The Department of Human Services released the following statement, in part:

“We are currently working with law enforcement and the Tennessee Department of Children Services (DCS) to investigate illegal child care operations provided by Molly Sinclair…We take the safety and well-being of children very seriously and we are committed to assisting law enforcement and other authorities in their investigation of the situation as needed.”
