Representative Gino Bulso (R-Dist. 61-Brentwood), one of the most conservative delegates in the Tennessee legislature, has filed another bill that would enshrine patriotic and Constitutional principles by designating several months of the year as celebrations of the ideals of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

HB0327 seeks to honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the unalienable rights contained therein. The bill would name June, July, and August in Tennessee as months of observance where these rights will be celebrated.

These months were not arbitrarily selected, as the bill specifies the historical significance of each month in American or Tennessee history and ties it to one of the Declaration’s core tenets.

June would become known as “Celebration of Life” month, “because it was on June 24, 2022, that the Supreme Court of the United States decided the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization,” referring to legal case that overturned the Roe v Wade case of 1973, which enshrined abortion as a federal right.

July would be designated “Celebration of Liberty” month, “because it was on July 4, 1776, that America gained its independence.”

And August would become “Celebration of the Pursuit of Happiness” month, “because it is during August when school children across Tennessee return to school to prepare for their futures.”

With the resurgence of patriotism in the state and nation fueled by the Trump administration and MAGA movement, this bill could be an excellent opportunity to solidify these values for future generations.
