Tennessee residents who have house-related damage or loss due to Hurricane Helene are now able to apply for assistance from the REALTORS Relief Foundation.

According to State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City-District 3), the assistance is offered by the National Association of REALTORS and Tennessee REALTORS. Eligible households can receive up to $1,000 in aid.

The funding is designated for housing-related aid for those who suffered damage or loss of housing. Recipients can use the assistance to cover a monthly mortgage payment for a primary residence damaged in the hurricane, a monthly rental payment if damages caused displacement from the primary residence, or hotel costs due to displacement.

“The Tennessee Realtors have really stepped up to the plate and put together a great tool to aid flood victims in Upper East Tennessee,” said Crowe. “I highly encourage everyone that has been affected by Hurricane Helene to apply for this relief. Tennessee is the Volunteer State for a reason, and we are seeing why. Tennesseans must continue to come together to aid fellow citizens through a tragic time.”

The effects of Hurricane Helene are widespread across Northeast Tennessee, and many different organizations have stepped up to help in the relief efforts.

In a joint statement, State Representative Rebecca Alexander (R-Jonesborough-District 7) and Tim Hicks (R-Gray-District 6) acknowledged the impact of the storm but also the support that continued to pour into the area: “The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene has been heartbreaking and overwhelming…In the aftermath of this terrible storm, we are grateful for the outpouring of support we have seen from so many individuals and organizations like the Tennessee Realtors. The volunteer spirit remains strong in our state, and we encourage eligible residents to apply for this assistance.”

The deadline to apply is December 1, 2024. Applicants must be residents of Johnson, Unicoi, Cocke, Hawkins, Washington, Greene, Grainger, Hamblen, or Carter counties.
