State Representative Aron Maberry (R-Clarksville-District 68) didn’t hesitate to jump into the fray when a semi tractor-trailer crash involving several vehicles happened right in front of him, rescuing a man who was trapped inside his burning car.

The wreck happened on Clarksville’s 101st Airborne Division Parkway last Thursday after the semi, which was going in the opposite direction of Maberry, crossed the median and cut sideways across oncoming traffic. Maberry said he was about 30 feet away from the accident when it happened and had to slam on his breaks to avoid it.

After stopping, he noticed the engine of a black sedan which had been hit by the semi was smoking and raced over to help pull out a man trapped inside who was bleeding from his hand.

“After getting my bearings, the car in front of me was locked and on fire. The gentleman in the seat was too out of it to open the door. As I examined the vehicle, I noticed that the other windows were smashed, so I reached in, unlocked it, and carefully got the gentleman out. I then held him in the street until an amazing woman arrived with a car to sit him in,” Mayberry wrote. “Two other vehicles were badly damaged, and I believe they all went to the hospital, but thank God no one died. A true miracle on the 101st.”

And adding to the heroic display of good citizenship is the fact that he acted through his own remembered trauma from a wreck involving a semi four years ago from which he is still recovering. I’m a little shaken up; it played out right in front of me,” Maberry told Clarksville Now at the time of the accident. “It looks like everyone is alive, and I thank God for that.”

The Clarksville Police Department confirmed there were no fatalities, and Maberry relayed that the man he rescued was released from the hospital the next day. “My new friend Dayquan just called, and he was released from the hospital with a few injuries. That man is a walking miracle. Praying for his continued health as he walks through the healing process,” he shared.

The identity of the semi driver has not been publicly revealed, but this wreck raises questions about the immigration status of the driver as there has been a string of similar crashes nationally caused by illegal aliens who were issued Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL) from liberal and sanctuary states like California, Washington, and New York.

Several of these accidents have caused fatalities, including children, and the latest incident on Nov. 14 resulted in the death of an Indiana National Guardsman. In response, the Department of Homeland Security has begun targeting illegal truck drivers, and several states, including Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas, have launched operations to identify and detain illegal drivers in coordination with ICE and other federal agencies.
