For the third time this school year, the Jefferson County, Tennessee School System has seen one of its employees arrested, two White Pine Elementary teachers for alleged assault of students, one school bus driver for Alleged Sexual Contact By An Authority Figure.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement along with a picture of the suspect.
“On Thursday, March 14, 2025, the SRO assigned to White Pine School was advised by staff that an incident had occurred at the school involving a teacher. A joint investigation by Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson County Schools administration revealed that an assault had occurred by a teacher on a 4-year-old student. Renee West Murphy age 60 of Morristown was arrested and charged with Child Abuse and Assault. She was transported to the Jefferson County Detention Center and has since been released after posting bond.” – said Jeff Coffey, Jefferson County, Tennessee Sheriff
For background, in November, a Jefferson County School Bus Driver was arrested.

Concerning the most recent arrest of a teacher at White Pine Elementary, Jefferson County Director of Schools Dr. Tommy Arnold released the following statement.
“Jefferson County Schools investigated a report on Thursday March 13th that a student was physically escorted to the office by a teacher at White Pine school in an inappropriate manner. Administration at White Pine School notified the department of children’s services and the Jefferson County sheriff’s office who began an investigation. The teacher was placed on suspension from her position in the district pending investigation and arrested by the sheriff’s office.” – said Dr. Tommy Arnold, Director of Jefferson County, Tennessee Schools
Earlier in the school year, another teacher at White Pine school was arrested for alleged assault.
