Turn Off The Illegal Immigration Magnets!

House Bill 0793 gives public school districts the option to charge students tuition if they cannot prove they are in the country and state legally.

HB0793 changes the state’s public school enrollment policy by requiring all public schools, including public charter schools, to verify a student’s legal status before enrollment.

If a student cannot provide proper documentation, local school districts and public charter schools would have the option, but would not be required, to charge tuition for a student’s enrollment.

Tuition would also have to be paid in full before the student would be allowed to attend classes.

While this legislation is not perfect, The Tennessee Conservative views it as being a step closer to turning off Tennessee’s illegal immigration magnets.

If you support this legislation, use the contact information provided below for the members of the House K-12 Subcommittee and tell them to “Turn Off The Magnets for Illegal Immigration – Vote YES on HB0793!” prior to their meeting on March 11th.
