The administrator of the Young Republican (YR) Chair Election offered the following data and commentary on the election of Mason Mosier who will serve on the Washington County GOP Executive Committee, providing the critical vote to break the deadlock between factions within the committee.

“On Thursday Sept 25, [2025] the Washington county young republicans held an election in which Mason Mosier received 77 votes to Rachel Mehl who received 37.
GOP data center was used to ensure that all participating were registered voters, in between 18-40 years old, and had not voted in a Democrat primary.
A number of attendees who were either not registered to vote or had voted in a democratic primary were not allowed to vote.
All voters signed a sworn statement stating that they are registered voters, in between 18-40, and are Republican.
We believe that Young Republicans should be the only ones voting in a Young Republican election and urge the General Assembly to pass party registration to ensure only republicans are voting in Republican elections.” – said Stevie Giorno, Young Republican Election Administrator

Mosier, the YR Chair Elect commented as follows for this news report who will serve on the Washington County CEC after election results are certified.
“Thursday’s election was a resounding moment. Now is the time to unify young republicans and welcome new voters into the Party. I believe this is a turning point for our generation.
We’re focused on real issues that matter: economic opportunity, personal freedom, and responsible leadership, not performative politics. I plan to host meetings where young people can engage directly with elected officials.
As for the County Executive Committee seat, it’s not my top priority. A Young Republicans representative will absolutely serve on the CEC, but my focus remains on energizing and expanding our youth base.” – said Mason Mosier, Young Republican Chair Elect
The election was not without controversy.
With the election being held at the Old Jonesborough School, observers noted some voters arriving by bus and questioned their qualifications to participate in the election.
Mehl offered the following commentary for this news report.
“I am aware of the bus of individuals, along with others associated with them, who came to vote in the election. I am working closely with the Young Republicans to identify who they are, determine whether they are members of our organization, and understand why they arrived together on the bus. Election integrity is essential, no matter the size of the election, and I am committed to ensuring that this matter is addressed properly. While I am concerned about the situation, I believe there is sufficient time before the Young Republicans Board of Directors meets in November to certify the election to carefully review the circumstances and reach a fair resolution.” – Said Rachel Mehl, Young Republican Chair Candidate
