Why would you quote a tyrant and war criminal like Lincoln?
He got what he deserved. Right in Mrs. Lincolns lap.
You may not have quoted him. It has been shown that about 90% of quotes and stories attributed to Lincoln he never said. He even had other people revise speeches he had already given so they could be published. The famous Gettysburg Address, which many of us were forced to memorize, beyond being factually vacuous, was very likely a re-write composed by Seward to replace for the newspapers a speech that fell flat when given.
There has been and continues to be a lucrative industry in laudatory Lincoln literature, and much fabrication has become entrenched. His picture should be on the $3 bill.
