Metro Nashville Police have arrested two men with a fatal shooting that occurred on Jefferson Street Saturday afternoon.

The suspects, 24-year-olds Marquez Davis and DeAnthony Brown, were apprehended by Specialized Investigation Division TITANS detectives at a short-term rental on 26th Avenue North.

According to police, Davis was found in possession of a gun at the time of his arrest on Monday night.

He has a prior criminal record, having been convicted of robbery, felony gun possession, and felony drug possession in April 2024. Davis received a 10-year probated sentence to the Community Corrections Program for that conviction.

Saturday’s shooting occurred around 5 p.m. with two groups firing at each other across the street. A total of ten people were shot, including two children. A 24-year-old male died in the incident, while others were taken to local hospitals in varying conditions.

Nashville Fire Department employees were nearby, assisting with Tennessee State University’s homecoming activities, and were able to provide quick assistance.

Chief John Drake commented on the situation, stating, “The shooters had no regard for human life and put a crowd of innocent persons, including children, in extreme danger. The entire criminal justice system must treat violent gun crime with the seriousness it demands with resulting incarceration for those convicted.”

Both men are now facing charges of criminal homicide.

  1. You’ve got to love demonrat liberal run city. Nothing but felons running around with guns. Nice catch and release programs they have. But take the guns away from law abiding citizens. That have to defend themselves from thugs like this. Remember guns don’t kill people on their own. People kill people with guns. Stop blaming the guns and start locking felons up.
In God we trust not government or man.
    Have a blessed day.
