U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi has announced that within just 48 hours of operation, the Memphis Safe Task Force made 53 arrests and seized a total of 20 illegal firearms.
Bondi took to X on Wednesday morning to share the numbers, adding that a missing juvenile was also located by the task force and three firearms were recovered at the residence of a murder suspect.
“@POTUS direction, we are making America safe again!” Bondi said.
A previous update from Bondi on the morning of Tuesday, September 30th, shared that two firearms were seized and nine of the arrests occurred within the first day of the task force operation.
“Our operation in Memphis is now underway, and we’re just getting started. Yesterday, 9 arrests were made and 2 illegal firearms were taken off the streets,” Bondi wrote. “Additionally, 219 officers were special deputized and our Joint Operations Center is up and running.”
Bondi wrapped up her post by thanking different federal agencies involved in the operation including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Attorney General’s Office.
National Guard troops arrived in Memphis on Wednesday, October 1st.

Warning > Memphis is incredibly dangerous. If you’re from a typical city, even Nashville, there’s no comparison. Don’t go there unless you have to and if you do, carry a gun and watch your back – the killers sneak up behind people and shoot them. In 2018 they did that to the President of the Memphis Chamber.
Memphis has faced severe challenges with violent crime and gang activity for years. As of 2025, the city reports over 100 documented gangs with approximately 13,400 members, concentrated in high-poverty Black neighborhoods like Frayser, Orange Mound, and Whitehaven. Gang-related violence, often tied to drugs, firearms, and territorial disputes, contributed to record highs in homicides—398 in 2023 alone—and a 17-year peak in violent crime. Federal initiatives like Operation Viper (500 arrests, 100 indictments) and the Bluff City Task Force have targeted these issues, but progress remains uneven. Despite recent declines (homicides at six-year lows and overall crime at 25-year lows as of October 2025), efforts to aggressively eliminate crime and gangs face pushback from various stakeholders. But liberals and Democrats say we don’t want to disrupt the power control by Democrats, and no major crime or gangs will mess up their power…………………
