Publicly funded Tennessee Tech University (TTU) recently hosted a drag queen show at the school’s Backdoor Playhouse. In a video shared on Twitter, children can clearly be seen handing cash to a man dressed up in what appears to be a Catholic monk or nun costume, complete with a veil of sorts, which he proceeds to rip off his head before starting to strip.

Landon Starbuck who shared the edited video clip of the event said, “Every parent who pays to send their kids to [Tennessee Tech] deserves to know that this is what they’re allowing on campus.”

According to Starbuck, this isn’t the first drag queen show that the university has hosted but this one was certainly disrespectful towards TTU’s Catholic students, parents, and alumni.

In addition to the mocking garb worn by the performer, the individual in the video goes by the name “Little Demon” and has a podcast called “Witchcrafte.”

One Tennessee parent — who chose TTU for her son because of its perceived family-friendly culture — said, “I am so upset. Very disappointed. I’m shocked. This is not the impression I was given when we visited and ultimately chose the school. After seeing this, I’m not sure how we will continue. I don’t want my son or my money supporting this.”

A TTU alumnus told the Tennessee Conservative, “I can’t believe that my alma mater in little Cookeville, TN is allowing and supporting this. I have been proud to say that my former school hadn’t fallen victim to the woke invasion plaguing higher education institutions in Tennessee. Now, it appears TTU has gone woke as well. When the alumni association and TTU athletics sends me letters asking to donate, they can count on those letters going straight in the garbage.”

Tennesseans are growing increasingly alarmed at the many events across the state featuring drag queens where children are openly welcomed and encouraged to participate

The Backdoor Playhouse was set to put on another “all ages” drag show September 24th at 6:30pm but the event has since been canceled pending review after a statement released by President Phil Oldham yesterday.

Statement from TTU President, Phil Oldham:

I am disturbed and dismayed about the activities in a video circulating on social media from a recent event on Tennessee Tech’s campus.

I do not feel the activities in the video represent Tech’s values, and I do not condone explicit activity where minors are present. I also am offended by disparaging mockery toward any religious group.

To be clear, this was not a university sponsored event. No university funds were used. Two registered student groups facilitated the scheduling and promotion of the event. Although registered student organizations have the ability to reserve space on campus, the programming should not include obscene, lewd, or explicit activities.

The university is investigating the activities that took place at this event and the circumstances surrounding its scheduling and promotion. As of now, all public events scheduled on campus by these sponsoring organizations are cancelled pending a review.

All students, faculty and staff deserve care and consideration, as well as representation and respect. The investigation focuses on the inappropriate involvement of minors and a review of our policies and procedures.

  1. Parents just look what your hard earned money is paying is for such TRASH in so-Called higher education!!

  2. Stop all funding for that university. If we, the people can’t get satisfaction from our legislators, I suggest a sales tax revolt. Something has to be done to bring these ‘so- called’ representatives of the people to heel.

  3. Ok Gov Lee, time to prove Tucker Carlson wrong. Defund public money institutions that don’t uphold Tennessee values, buddy. Come on, you can do it…try being strong for a minute. Just once

  4. What a repulsive video of an overweight reprobate grown man dressing up as a nun. And to the parents that take their kids to this filth. You definitely need to have your reprobate minds examined. This is what happens when all forms of education takes money from the federal government. They dictate to you what you can and will do. I agree with the above statement. I have met gov. Lee and he claims to be a Christian. In Revelations 3:15-17 this is what God says; I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other. So, because you are lukewarm– neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich: I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
I think that pretty much describes most politicians. So I ask all politicians from both parties that claim to be Christians. Which side of the fence are you on? Hot or cold because you will be judged by God.
In God we trust not government or man.
    Have a blessed day.
