Athens, Tennessee, a small town of approximately 15,000 people, was host to a major battle in the current culture war.  In a normally sparsely attended city hall meeting, a small squadron of about 25 LGBTQ+ warriors, in full rainbow-colored uniform, attended to protest the pressure put on the local public library by the conservative Mayor and Vice-Mayor.  At issue was a bold LGBTQ+ book display in the children’s section, with very provocative titles, obviously designed to target curious children.

The LGBTQ squadron signed up about half of their warriors to speak to the city council and decry the attack against their minority group’s rights and privileges.  Not expecting any significant opposition, they were confident that they could prevail over the more conservative members of the council.

To their surprise, however, a group of approximately 80-100 conservative Christians also showed up at the Athens City Hall, to show their support of the Mayor and Vice-Mayor.   The contingent included an Athens pastor, Jeff Scott, of A Servant’s Heart Fellowship, and a substantial number of Patriot Church members from Lenoir City, Tennessee.  The main council meeting room was quickly filled to capacity, as was an adjacent overflow room.

A number of conservatives also signed up for speeches and clarified their stand that they had no hatred for the folk on the other side of this culture war.

The Vice-Mayor, Larry Eaton, very emphatically declared that their opposition to the display was not to hurt anyone or deny freedom, but to protect the children from being targeted by a group that was clearly promoting very pornographic material to children.  Their purpose was simply to protect children from very inappropriate material.

The conclusion of the meeting was that the display would be taken down and the books put back on the shelves.  It was not a total victory for the conservative element, but it was at least a major setback for the anti-Christian agenda, and momentum shift in the current war for the moral cultural standards of our Tennessee communities.

  1. The “Hate” is one way – the LGBTQ+ warriors hate anyone who disagrees with their aggressive tactics and they try to intimidate them.

  2. Citzens United, a grassroots conservative group in McMinn County, and based in Athens, showed up as well to support and speak at the council meeting! I am so glad, proud, and encouraged by what happened on Tuesday night. I had goosebumps just knowing that we were effectively taking a stand for a very righteous cause, protecting our children! By the way, our son who works at this library, a former Young Republican leader, homeschool graduate, devout Christian, top-notch college student, and an E3 in the TN Army National Guard 42A, is the one who was tasked to put up the display- and take it down, and did his part to help us fight. Not all in the library walk the same line. God bless.

    1. So thankful for all of you. Most of us had no idea about this meeting or the group supporting you would have been enormous.
God’s warriors must protect the children while maintaining love for our fellow man and you did a great job.

      1. Thank you so much! Being activists is a new thing for most of folks who just want to raise out kids and mind our own business, but we’re learning!

    2. Your son was a “top-notch” college student and works in a library in Athens? Sounds like he’s really putting that “top-notch” degree to good use.

  3. Just in case anyone doesn’t believe they mean to destroy children with their sick depravity, check out this link where it shows a parade of them in New York proudly chanting they are coming for everyone’s children.

This clearly shows their argument for just being accepted and treated equally in society is blown right out of the water, if that were true, why would care so much about brainwashing OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN into their sick world? Time to stand up and get your kids far far away from the public indoctrination camps they have the nerve to call school.

  4. At a recent LBGT event a number of participants chanted “we’re coming for your children.” Really?! If they come after our children then people will come after them – with blunt weapons, or worse.

Like folks in the auto repair business might say, “the only good tranny is the one in my car’s powertrain.”
