Michael Asbury, a 44-year-old resident of Knoxville, was sentenced to 4 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras after pleading guilty in March to a felony charge of obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder.

The rest of his sentence includes 24 months of supervised release, the first four of which will be house arrest, and a $2,000 restitution fine.

The FBI initially arrested Asbury in June of 2023 after utilizing witness accounts, DMV records, and video analysis to identify him after an online tip was submitted to the FBI claiming a witness saw a video Asbury had posted to his personal Facebook page featuring himself at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

During an interview with the FBI on January 17th, 2021, Asbury admitted to attending President Donald Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally and moving with the crowd to the Capitol but denied entering the building or committing any acts of violence.

After review of Asbury’s social media videos and surveillance footage, he was reportedly seen at the Lower West Terrace Tunnel in a mass of protesters pushing against the Capitol Police line on two occasions and passing a law enforcement riot shield to the crowd behind him. After the police deployed OC spray against the protesters, Asbury left the tunnel but remained nearby.

A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Columbia, regarding this case states, “Valuable assistance was provided by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee,” and, “This case is being investigated by the FBI’s Knoxville and Washington Field Offices, which identified Asbury as BOLO (“Be On the Look Out”) #122 in its seeking information photos.”

The U.S. Attorney’s office considers the January 6, 2021, protests to be an “ongoing” investigation and provides a tip hotline and website in the press release.

More than 1,400 people nationwide, including at least 16 Tennesseans, have been charged in relation to the January 6th Capitol protests with an unprecedented severity of charges and sentences.

  1. Goose stepping Nazi like democrat partisan traitors that are now fully engaged in insurrection and a civil war coup against the constitution, law, decency and the conservative citizens of this nation. The compromising of federal agencies that the democrat administrations and the DNC have accomplished stolen elections, lab altered virus bio attacks, RNA gene therapy dangerous killer drugs passed as vaccines, suppression of effective covid19 treatments, genocides that resulted, runaway inflation and loss of $85 billion in high tech military equipment, to name a few of their deeds. They have enabled and aided a mass invasion by foreign invaders at a cost of at least $150 billion and counting that threatens to bankrupt our social services networks, social security and our entire economy. The abuse of these mostly peaceful protestors in a set up and staged political event of the democrats to encourage and entrap protestors by police violence and planned malfeasance by the democrat apparatus, is the second time they have started civil warfare against the Union. WE need to come back to this if we can restore the republic from the democrats handing it over to the Marxist. These heinous criminal abusers of freedom and our constitution must be dealt with severely and punished as an example to future traitors/treasonous persons in and out of government. WE must go back and arrest try and convict the officials, judges and others involved in these attacks on our republics laws and constitutional freedoms. Genocide, treason, civil rights violations and RICO crimes should result in sentences up to death.
