A Loudon County Schools teacher and coach has been charged with sexual battery after allegedly inappropriately touching a school custodian.
An incident report states that 58-year-old Malcolm Gray Williams, Jr., a teacher and coach at Greenback Public School, is said to have approached a custodian as she worked near the field house on April 25. She stated that Williams pulled up to her car and asked her to go and clean the field house bathroom.

The victim stated that, as she was working in the field house, Williams touched her inappropriately on her breasts and genitals. She told him to stop because she was uncomfortable. She also told police that Williams had been drinking.
The custodian made a report of the incident to her supervisor. Loudon County Schools then filed a report with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.
Williams was interviewed by LCSO and allegedly admitted to the incident. He was arrested on May 7 and charged with sexual battery.
School officials say the district suspended Williams as soon as the report was received; Williams has since given notice of his intention to retire. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 11 for a preliminary hearing.
Williams had been named the interim head football coach for Greenback Public School in September 2024 after former coach Tommy Clemmer was removed after an incident involving a student.

Loudon County Schools issued the following statement:
On April 28, 2025, Loudon County Schools received a report of possible inappropriate contact by a school system employee toward a private contractor. Due to the serious nature of that report, Loudon County Schools promptly turned over the same to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, and placed the school system employee on suspension pending investigation. Since that time, however, the employee in question provided notice of his intention to retire, effective immediately. Because this is now only a law enforcement matter, Loudon County Schools would refer all other questions to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.
