Press Release –

FRANKLIN, TN – The county Republican Party Chairs from the TN-07 U.S. Congressional District announce a united coalition to streamline the primary process while maximizing voter turnout in the upcoming special primary election to replace resigning Representative Mark Green.

To achieve these goals, the county chairs will collaborate to develop a comprehensive candidate questionnaire and host a candidate forum, ensuring voters can thoroughly evaluate candidates based on their alignment with the Republican Party platform.

Streamlining the Primary Process

The coalition is committed to making the primary process accessible to all  candidates and informative to all Republican voters. The candidate  questionnaire and forum will focus on critical issues, including the Republican  Party platform, Congress’s constitutional role, and candidates’ plans to deliver  results for TN-07’s strongly Republican electorate. Each filed candidate will  receive detailed county-specific information and opportunities to engage voters  during the anticipated late summer campaign.

“A Congressional resignation is a rare occurrence,” said Bob Ousley, Chairman of the Perry County Republican Party. “The county Republican parties in  Tennessee District 7 are committed to doing everything in their power to ensure  the voters get the maximum opportunity to learn about the process and who is  running for this seat. We are organizing events with all of the candidates to  foster in depth interaction with the goal of helping voters make an informed  choice that will benefit Tennesseans and the nation,” Ousley added.

Maximizing Voter Turnout for Victory

The county parties are united in purpose to ensure every Republican voter has  the opportunity to engage in this campaign before speaking their collective voice  at the ballot box. The county parties will leverage grassroots energy focused on  the party platform and conservative values to galvanize the electorate, thus turning out every eligible Republican voter. This energized primary will then  carry the nominee on to victory in the special election.

Emphasizing this point, Christine Apple, Chair of the Robertson County  Republican Party stated “Tennessee’s 7th District deserves a representative who  upholds the Republican platform—defending life, protecting the Second  Amendment, securing our borders, and limiting government overreach.  Republican voters expect principled, constitutional leadership, and this special  election gives us a chance to rally around those shared values.”

Davidson County Chair, Jason Weakley added “”This is not only an opportunity  to contrast our party’s values, but also to retain our majority in Congress and  expand our ranks locally. In a majority Republican district it is still important to  discuss what separates our values from those of the Democrat Party, and reflect  on the freedoms and opportunities a limited government offers to so many  Tennesseans.”

Special Election Timeline

The upcoming surge of political activity in a non-election year may surprise some  voters. Per Tennessee Code, Section 2-16-101, a vacancy in a U.S. House seat  mandates that within ten days of the vacancy, the governor call a special  election. That election must happen between 100 and 107 days after the  governor’s call. This also triggers a special primary for each political party that  will occur 55 to 60 days after the governor issues the writ of election. What this  means is TN-07 Republicans should expect a primary sometime in mid to late  September.

Building GOP Unity

This campaign offers a unique opportunity to strengthen the Tennessee GOP  through collaboration. The Benton County GOP’s July 10th Family Fun & Friends  Cookout, now open to all TN-07 candidates and county parties, exemplifies this  unity.

“Our cookout has become a rallying point for candidates and counties alike,” said  Debbie Baldwin, Benton County Chair. “This camaraderie is unprecedented, and  it’s building a stronger, more connected Republican Party in TN-07.”

Details on the candidate forum and questionnaire will be announced as finalized.  The TN-07 coalition includes Benton, Cheatham, Davidson, Decatur, Dickson,  Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, Perry, Robertson, Stewart, Wayne,  and Williamson counties.

  1. So glad to see the Republican Party chairs within the 7th US Congressional District united to help citizens better understand who is running for the Mark Green U.S. House seat and what they each stand for. This is the strength of the Republican Party.

  2. Lucifer’s TNGOP hates Jody Barrett because he stood against them for US. He’s got my vote and all others I can bring.
