Tennessee Conservative News Staff –

A Clarksville teacher has admitted to showing nude photos to a student, claiming it was “an accident.”

Matthew Vedder, a science teacher at Montgomery Central High School, is under investigation by both law enforcement and the Department of Children’s Services for allegedly showing nude photos of himself to a 17-year-old girl in one of his classes.

On March 9, Vedder was showing the girl photos of a project he had been working on at his home when he then swiped to a nude photo of himself. Vedder told investigators that when he tried to close the inappropriate image, he accidentally showed a gallery of 6-10 photos, all of him naked. He then deleted all of the photos after the incident.

Clarksville Now reports that an audio recording of a conversation including the girl’s father, the family’s attorney, and officials from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shows that Vedder’s account of the incident aligns with the girl’s report.

Vedder is the husband of CMCSS Director of Schools Dr. Jean Luna-Vedder. She has recused herself from anything related to the investigation or any potential disciplinary action. He has been placed at an alternative worksite off of school grounds, pending the completion of the investigation.

CMCSS spokesperson Anthony Johnson stated, “Per district protocols, CMCSS does not begin an internal investigation until all external investigations have concluded.”

Sheriff John Fuson noted that MCSO turned the investigation over to the District Attorney’s Office, who has requested that the case be assigned to another district by the District Attorney’s Conference.

In related news, a Knoxville youth coach was released from jail last week after posting bond and paying for required GPS monitoring.

48-year-old Douglas Peek is facing charges on two counts of aggravated sexual battery and three counts of invasion of privacy involving a victim under 13. He was arrested after a referral from the Department of Children’s Services involving allegations that he inappropriately touched children on youth sports teams he was coaching.

Those incidents allegedly took place between August 2023 and December 2024.

Peek is also involved in an open case in which he and his wife sued three Knoxville residents for defamation, claiming that the individuals spread false information regarding Peek’s conduct with children.

Peek is scheduled to appear in court again on May 26.
