The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –
A second Tennessee county is receiving deceptive political communications from a political action committee (PAC) which is allegedly impersonating conservative advocacy group Tennessee Stands.

In an X post on April 23rd, Tennessee Stands gave a heads up to citizens of Carter County that a Super PAC named Tennessee Stand PAC has sent out mailers and sent texts to voters.

The treasurer of the PAC, Samantha Sammons, lists a Washington, DC address and despite requests from Tennessee Stands to name who is funding the PAC, she is remaining silent.
Sammons’ email leads to the Treasury Compliance Counsel Group which is a national law firm specializing in “navigating the complex landscape of treasury and compliance law at both a state and federal level.”

Tennessee Stands has already submitted a complaint to the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance, calling for a full investigation, over similar activity in Sullivan County.
Their complaint outlines four separate communications distributed earlier this month which the organization asserts were not authorized by Tennessee Stands and may violate multiple provisions of state law.
Tennessee Stands Executive Director Anne Lowery stated that the use of their name is not only unauthorized but appears designed to mislead voters.

District attorneys for both Carter and Sullivan Counties are reportedly taking the matter seriously, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has also been asked to open an investigation.
