Tennessee Conservative News Staff –
The sentencing hearing for a Memphis gynecologist who was found guilty on 40 federal charges began on Tuesday.

In a trial that lasted more than three weeks and included five days of jury deliberation, Sanjeev Kumar was found guilty in January on 40 of the 46 counts he was charged with, including 16 counts of reusing medical devices that were intended for single use and 6 counts of healthcare fraud.
Kumar’s sentencing was delayed twice after motions were filed by his attorneys, asking courts to overturn the guilty verdict and declare a mistrial. It was alleged that one of the jurors may have communicated with someone outside of the court during deliberations.
Kumar faces a maximum of up to 162 years in prison for all of the charges.
