U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested an illegal alien following an accident involving a tractor trailer crash in East Tennessee.
According to ICE officials, Kenyan national Eric Maloba was arrested in Hamblen County after a crash involving a tractor trailer. Maloba, who holds a commercial driver’s license from Texas, was said to be training another individual who was seeking his CDL.
Maloba was found to be in the country illegally. He entered the United States legally in October 2018, but he remained in the county without legal status after his authorization expired in April 2019.
His illegal status was the reason for his arrest, according to officers.
In a statement, ICE noted that “Eric’s case shows exactly why Secretary Markwayne Mullin is cracking down on illegal aliens with CDLs, strengthening border security, encouraging 287(g) partnerships and ramping up removals.”
This latest arrest comes on the heels of a report from the Department of Homeland Security with 125 names and photos of African nationals who are currently facing deportation. Of those 125 individuals, Kenyans made up the largest portion.
