Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials based out of New Orleans have been actively pursuing illegal aliens in Davidson County in a series of target operations, recently capturing a man who is suspected of being part of a dangerous Venezuelan gang and another who was recently convicted of a felony crime.

ICE agents arrested 22-year-old Aldo David Herrera-Andino during one targeted operation on October 6.

On September 24, Herrera-Andino pleaded guilty to shooting a man in the face and then fleeing the scene, leaving the man seriously injured, and was convicted of felony reckless aggravated assault. A Davidson County judge sentenced him to five years of supervised probation.

Herrera-Andino, an illegal alien from Honduras, was previously arrested in March 2021 after entering illegally, but he was released under former President Joe Biden’s catch-and-release policies.

He will now remain in ICE custody where he will undergo proceedings to be deported.

“Violent offenders like Herrera-Andino have no business remaining in our communities,” stated Micah Brock, ICE Assistant Director of Public Affairs.

Also, on October 22, ICE agents took a Venezuelan man who is suspected of being a member of the Tren de Aragua gang into custody outside of the Nashville International Airport. This arrest was also part of the Department of Homeland Security’s targeted operations.

Salin Dahel Ramos Alvarez was arrested after dropping someone off at the airport.

Records indicate that Alvarez initially “illegally entered the country near El Paso, Texas. He was later released by the Biden administration. On November 28, 2023, an Immigration Judge ordered Ramos Alvarez removed from the United States.”

Airport officials told Fox 17 that, while they do not use Flock cameras for the purpose of capturing illegal aliens, other agencies do have access to their systems.

“The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) utilizes the FLOCK system as a safety and protection measure for our 27 million passengers. It is important to note that the FLOCK system is used by numerous law enforcement agencies nationwide. The MNAA Department of Public Safety does not conduct specific immigration, customs enforcement (ICE) searches on their behalf; rather, the standard database is simply accessible to organizations with FLOCK system access. These agencies throughout the country are conducting a search with key terms such as ‘immigration or immigration related activity.'”

Immigration officials, however, did not provide details on specific investigative methods, saying, “For operational security and the safety of our officers, DHS will not disclose or discuss law enforcement operations, strategy, tactics, capabilities, or methods.”
