The best chance of rain for the week comes today, though that rain chance is only about 30% across the state. The best time of day for that shower or storm will be this afternoon and evening. Most of us will see lots of clouds today, which will keep temps in the lower 80s. Where there are more breaks in the clouds, afternoon high temps will climb into the mid 80s.
A few leftover showers or storms may linger into the evening across the Cumberland Plateau and East Tennessee. Otherwise, look for skies to clear from west to east overnight, allowing temps to fall to near 60 degrees.Â
Those beautiful clear September skies return for Thursday! Expect lots of sunshine and pleasant afternoon highs near 80 degrees. A light northerly breeze and low humidity levels will make for a fall-like feel to the air.Â
