By Brandon Lewis & The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

Two Tennessee House members anonymously told the Tennessee Conservative that strong objections were made by the true Christians in the House Republican caucus meeting regarding the approval of an openly transgender person delivering the prayer on the House floor.

However, according to the two representatives, Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville-District 25) pushed back stating that they could not discriminate and followed by giving his stamp of approval on Democrat Representative Aftyn Behn’s (D-Nashville-District 51) invite of Chaplain Dahron Johnson from the United Church of Christ in Nashville.

The Tennessee Holler reports that Johnson is the “first openly trans person to lead prayer on the Tennessee House floor.”

The House members who contacted us requested to remain anonymous from fear of blowback from leadership. Another member told us that things went down a bit differently in the House Republican Caucus meeting, but declined to offer us any details.

Seeking more information on the approval process, The Tennessee Conservative reached out to the House Chief of Staff, Director of Operations, Director of Communications, and Chief Clerk of the House but in typical fashion, they have not replied to Tennessee’s Only Conservative News Alternative.

Sexton’s approval of a transgender person to lead prayer in the hallowed halls of the Tennessee House begs the question,”If a pastor from the Temple of Satan were requested to deliver the ‘prayer’ would Sexton approve it?”

With the influence of The Temple of Satan invading Tennessee via the After School Satan Club at Chimneyrock Elementary in Cordova, this prospect is not unthinkable.

Conservative Christians in Tennessee want to know, “When will Cameron Sexton start living his faith instead of hiding behind it?”

  1. Unfortunately, I think Cameron Sexton made the right decision. But if the state Republican Caucus has defined that only one religious view can pray to open a meeting, that is probably not practicing freedom of religion. I’m betting the Democrat that staged the whole thing did so to create controversy; which is evil in my opinion. But that is what Democrats do. If we can say this preacher, who is from an established religion in Nashville is not worthy of giving an opening prayer; then we are saying that only approved religions and pastors can pray in state meetings. To me that violates the spirit of the constitution even if I despise the basic tenants of that religion. That would apply to “The Church of Satan”. I agree that the rules of who can pray and the selection process of who gives a public prayer needs to be reviewed and discussed. The opening prayer should not be a political controversy that is offensive to the majority of those who participate. When it gets to that state, God is not listening anyway. So, what is the point of the whole thing – it has been corrupted and is probably offensive to God as well.

    1. Excellent commentary, “the opening prayer should not be…offensive to the majority of those who participate.”… We need to find out how these decisions are made, how and why. Then we can work to change it.

  2. Cameron will probably tell us soon that he wants to be our governor. Conservatives surely will have a better choice.

  3. I do not trust Sexton, long story, but he took my number, acted like he entered in his phone to get back to me, 2weeks, 30 days, nothing. Called office nothing, “People before Politics, my ass!

  4. Sexton has shown his true colors again and again, it’s time to REPLACE him with a true conservative.

    1. I think this sums up Sexton. Transgenderism is a mental illness and it is a sin to mock God’s creation.
      1 John 3:4-10 NIV
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.
In God we trust not government or man.
      Have a blessed day.

  5. May the Lord have mercy on us.We have very few true Conservatives anymore, but I can’t believe these politicians let this happen in Tennessee

  6. It is laughable at this point when people want to move to TN because it is “conservative/red”. Is this state nothing more than RINOS in control at this point? When will people realize that there is nothing inclusive about the trans movement. You could give them their own bathrooms, sports category, any accommodation, etc and they still want to be included even if it makes others feel unsafe or uncomfortable with their actions and behavior in public. They are nothing more than entitled pedos and groomers with mental disorders. Yet we continue to accommodate their demands based on the 1st Amendment?? It’s so obvious this is done for attention but whatever rocks your boat.
