Tennessee Conservative News Staff –
Criminal charges have been dropped against a former Memphis school director who allegedly stole almost $400,000 from the school.
A statement from the Carter Malone Group public relations team announced on Monday that charges against Corey Johnson, the former director of what was the Memphis Academy of Health Sciences, was dismissed by a judge in Shelby County back in November.

The charges were initially brought four years ago, alleging that Johnson used money given to the charter school to travel to Las Vegas and purchase items such as a hot tub, seafood, and NBA tickets.
According to the state Comptroller’s office, Johnson and two other school officials stole a total of $398,000 between July 2015 and February 2021.
No announcement has been made as to why those charges were dismissed.
Johnson expressed gratitude for the dismissal and said he was ready to move on in his professional life.
“This has been a very trying 6 years. My faith and support from my family and friends have sustained me. I’m ready to put this behind me, secure the next professional opportunity, and move on with my life,” Johnson said.
Memphis Academy of Health Sciences, one of the first charter schools opened in Memphis, was closed after their charter was revoked in 2022.
