The Tennessee Conservative Staff –
Chattanooga police are looking for the suspect who shot and killed a 42-year-old man as he stood in the front yard of his home.
The victim, who has not been identified, was shot shortly after midnight last Saturday in front of his home on Fagan Street.
When officers arrived, they began administering aid in an attempt to save the man’s life. EMTs took over when they arrived, and the man was taken to a local hospital. He later died.
Police were told that the suspect shot the victim and then ran away.
A study released last month by the Manhattan Institute claims that violent crime has “largely receded” in Chattanooga, but continued incidents have residents and city leaders concerned.
Residents have vocalized their fear that a decrease in police resources is leaving them vulnerable to crime that is not addressed or is inaccurately reported.
Additionally, City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod recently released a letter to residents asking them to “pull together…to end the violence.”
She goes on to urge the community to “confront these tragedies,” stating that “the cycle of violence must be broken, and that starts with us – with each and every one of us taking ownership of the future we want for our youth.”
