Chattanooga officials are issuing a little warning to some residents regarding an upcoming code enforcement initiative.

The Land Development Office (LDO) of Public Works announced Thursday that they are planning to send the entirety of their inspection department to do targeted, systematic inspections next week.

The tentative plan is to cover District 1 on November 3 and 4. Team members will inspect as many addresses as possible during that time, looking for areas that need improvement, with the intention of enhancing “neighborhood safety and livability across the community.”

“Notices of Violation” will be posted in areas that fail to meet compliance regulations. Residents will be given a two-week period to make any necessary corrections.

Areas to be inspected include the following:

  • Litter
  • Overgrowth
  • Inoperable vehicles on private property
  • Structure violations

“Maintaining code compliance is a vital element in preserving the strength and value of our neighborhoods,” said Donna Casteel, Code Enforcement Manager. “Compliance with these minimum standards offers significant community benefits. It can help reduce vandalism, deter crime, maintain property values, and prevent the deterioration of neighborhoods over time”.

District 1 residents are encouraged to inspect their property prior to November 3 to ensure that they are fully in compliance with all regulations.

  1. Cities; Cancers on the face of God’s green Earth, terminally infested with lucifer’s accursed dimmercraps. I thank God every night I’m not in one and I TRY not to have to go into them.
