Tennessee Conservative News [By Paula Gomes] –
A Cuban national, accused of smuggling weapons, has been arrested in Sumner County, Tennessee.
During a stop for traffic violations, Sumner County authorities discovered stolen weapons and that the legal permanent resident – aka “green card holder” – was a convicted felon.
Frank Osmani Diaz Tamayo, 37, who has a history of drugs and weapons charges was pulled over in a pickup truck with Texas plates for a lane violation and for following too closely on Friday, July 10th, 2026, along Highway 31 West near Millersville.

Law enforcement told News 2 that Diaz Tamayo had outstanding warrants in two states – Colorado and Nebraska – for failure to appear on felony charges.
According to a member of the 18th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Diaz Tamayo has “an extensive criminal history for firearms and narcotics-related smuggling and was arrested in February for smuggling marijuana.”
When asked during the traffic stop if there were any weapons in the vehicle, Diaz Tamayo refused to give a straight answer, and when asked about drugs being present, claimed he had been clean for two years.
A subsequent search produced five weapons – of which three were reported to be stolen out of Texas – and almost 800 rounds of ammunition.

Diaz Tamayo was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft of a weapon, following too closely, and violation of lane law. He bailed out on a $110,000 bond and was released with an ankle monitor last week.
The task force member said that stolen firearms, often someone’s personal firearms, could be used to commit crimes after being taken.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed to News 2 that Diaz Tamayo has permanent residency in the United States but due to his criminal history, that legal status could be up for reevaluation.
On July 27th, Diaz Tamayo is expected back in court.
