Democratic Majority On Nashville Metro Council Votes Against 2024 GOP Convention

The Metro Council voted down yet another proposal for the city of Nashville to host the Republican National Convention in 2024.
Council Member Robert Swope, the only Republican councilman, presented the proposal last Tuesday, calling it a “win-win, no-lose opportunity” but the council voted against the measure in a 22-10 vote in which three members abstained.

In his appeal to his fellow council members, Swope said, “Tonight, we have an opportunity to stand up and declare that no matter what the perceived political climate is in our great country, Nashville has been and will hopefully remain the most inclusive, welcoming city in America.”
Swope argued that Nashville, as well as the surrounding Middle Tennessee area would benefit from the event economically, with a projected revenue of $200 million, along with a $50 million federal security grant and $25 million in already approved funding coming from the state.
Council members have in recent weeks opposed Nashville hosting the Republican Party’s nominating convention citing concerns about security.
A site selection committee for the RNC has already voted to recommend Milwaukee as the host city for the event – Nashville’s main rival. That vote essentially puts an end to Nashville’s hopes of hosting.
The RNC meets Friday in Chicago to make its final decision.
If someone wants to have a convention the democrats should NOT HAVE ANY SAY. Just who do these people do they think they are anyway?
