Last week the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officially released 112 pages of The Covenant School shooter’s writings without any notice or explanation.

Over two years since the tragic shooting that resulted in the death of 3 elementary school students and 3 staff members, these pages are now accessible by the public via the FBI Records: The Vault website.

The released pages contain the shooter’s writings, receipts and some drawings. The FBI redacted the shooter’s schematics of The Covenant School.

The shooter had written down some of names of the faculty as well as the school’s calendar, break schedules included.

A sympathetic report from News Channel 5 stated that the released journals “paint the picture of a pained person, writing about lost love, their autism and hurt.”

These documents were previously kept from the public by the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) before being tied up in a public records case due to some Covenant School parents not wanting the information to spur further shootings.

In early April this year, MNPD released a 48-page summary report on the shooting, providing a picture of the shooter’s mental state.

This report absolved the shooter’s mental healthcare providers of any responsibility in failing to report their patient’s conditions to authorities and concluded that no additional persons were involved in the shooting.

“[The shooter] never left behind a single document explaining why she committed the attack, why she specifically targeted The Covenant, and what she hoped to gain, if anything, with the attack,” the report reads.

These newly released pages show that the shooter was actually considering Opry Mills Mall as a target before changing her mind due to the security measures in place at that location.

The shooter had planned to carry out the attack on various earlier dates but did not follow through until the March 27th tragedy.

  1. How tragic. And those innocent people and children died because no one paid attention to her mental illness. Why aren’t her parents being held accountable? Why aren’t her doctors being held accountable? Lord only knows.
