The former head of a Memphis-based bank has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.
68-year-old Robert Hartheimer, former CEO of Evolve Bank & Trust, entered the guilty plea on January 5 before U.S. District Judge Sheryl H. Lipman. He pleaded guilty to an attempt to produce child pornography as well as coercion and entitlement of a minor.

He is facing 15 to 30 years in prison for the child pornography charges, as well as a $250,000 fine. However, qualifying prior convictions could see him facing a life sentence instead.
He is also facing 10 years to life for the coercion and entitlement charge.
Hartheimer was arrested by FBI agents on October 23, 2025, at the bank’s headquarters.
According to prosecutors, he communicated on the Grindr dating app with federal agents posing as a 15-year-old boy. Harheimer is said to have made arrangements to meet with the boy.
He also sent sexually explicit messages and lewd photographs and requested to video chat.
Hartheimer’s attorney released the following statement:
“Today Mr. Hartheimer formally took responsibility for the offenses he committed. His sentencing will be held on April 3. Mr. Hartheimer is hopeful that his sentence reflects not only a reasonable penalty for his regrettable act but also his exemplary professional life and dedication to his friends and family.”
Hartheimer was appointed as CEO of Evolve Bank & Trust in August 2025. He has since been fired from that position.
