A former Cleveland, Tennessee school teacher who confessed to secretly filming and photographing female students in a locker room was handed his sentence on Monday.

Court records show that  33-year-old Christopher Dalton Schroll pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted aggravated unlawful photography of a minor back in March.

Schroll was sentenced to spend five months in jail. The remaining three years and seven months of his sentence will be served on supervised probation.

After his release, he is required to wear an ankle monitor for 90 days. Additionally, the judge imposed a no-contact order, barring Schroll from entering the Cleveland school system, Champy’s restaurant, and the Mouse Creek Soccer Complex. He must also register as a sex offender.

“This defendant shall comply with the sex offender registry laws,” the judge stated.

Schroll was initially arrested in March 2022 after students discovered a spy camera planted in the girl’s locker room at Cleveland Middle School.

After investigating, police found more than 4 million images and videos on the device and on Scholl’s computer. These included numerous underage girls in various states of undress as they changed clothes.

Schroll told police that he installed the camera after receiving reports of bullying in the locker room and would take video footage home nightly to review it on his personal computer.

Police noted that there were no audio capabilities on the device. The school principal also testified that Schroll had not informed administration of any complaints.

During Schroll’s sentencing hearing, several families of the victims provided testimony about the profound impact his actions had on their children’s lives.

One mother pleaded for justice, saying, “I’m asking you to give justice to my daughter and all the other daughters in this case because they have not seen that yet for these girls — and for you to understand the impact it has had on our children and how it has changed their lives in how they handle dealing with other teachers, how it affects them in school, and how it affects their personal lives.”

However, many parents voiced their concerns about seeing Schroll in the community, especially after the trauma their daughters experienced.

During the hearing, Schroll offered an apology, stating, “To the parents and your children, I’m deeply sorry. I know you placed a lot of trust in me and I broke that, and all I can ever say is I’m sorry.”
