A Pride festival in East Tennessee has been cancelled just days before the event was scheduled to take place.

Knox Pride had scheduled their 2025 Pride Fest and Parade for October 3rd and 4th in downtown Knoxville but failed to secure liability insurance as the festival date drew near.

On Wednesday, Executive Director for the Knox Pride Community and Resource Center, John Camp, explained in a Facebook video that the organization had no choice but to cancel the event.

Camp stated that Knox Pride is working on a solution for next year “so we don’t run into this problem again” and said that the city had been a “wonderful partner” with the organization.

Camp suggested that disappointed festival goers visit Chattanooga Pride on Sunday instead.

Those set to perform at Pride, along with vendors, sponsors and other agencies were contacted on Monday about the cancellation of the event.

One of the largest pride events in the South, Knox Pride Fest has been held in October which is “LGBTQ History Month”  instead of Pride Month in June for the last three years.

With South Knoxville holding their Pride event in June, Knox Pride avoids any “competition” while also enjoying cooler temperatures and enticing University of Tennessee at Knoxville students to attend.
