A Lenoir City man who is running for U.S. Congress on an independent platform now faces a number of felony charges after he allegedly vandalized four license plate reading cameras in Blount County by shooting them.
According to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryville Police Department, 37-year-old Adam Heimerman was taken into custody last Thursday and was charged with four counts of vandalism.
Police discovered on July 25 that the cameras had been damaged. Through a joint investigation, it was discovered that Heimerman was the primary suspect.
Law enforcement reports state that Heimerman admitted to shooting four cameras between July 14 and July 22, three in Blount County and one in Maryville. Evidence showed that one of the cameras was shot from the property of a church while services were in session.
Heimerman is currently being held at the Blount County Jail on a $40,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on August 5.
Heimerman is currently listed on the Secretary of State website as an independent candidate representing Tennessee’s second congressional district for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
