After jurors in the federal child pornography trial of Sean Williams faced an emotional day of court on Wednesday, hearing testimony from the mothers of the victims and seeing graphic evidence of sexual abuse to both children and adults, Williams was found guilty on all three counts when court reconvened on Thursday.

The trial began Tuesday after Williams wavered on a 55-year plea deal. Ultimately, U.S. District Court Judge Ronnie Greer decided to move forward with the trial.

The trial began with the jury being shown a series of photographs and videos presented of evidence against former Johnson City business owner on charges of three counts of enticing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of manufacturing child pornography.

The minor victims were 9 months old, 4 years old, and 7 years old. The mothers were either sleeping or drugged when the abuse took place.

The images, stored on flash drives, were found after Williams was arrested in North Carolina in April 2023. In some of the images, Williams’ face is visible as he is sexually assaulting the mothers of the victims. In others, he is identified by a scar and tattoo on his left hand.

Later in the afternoon, the mothers of the victims testified, acknowledging that they were abusing illegal substance at the time of the abuse. According to testimony, none of the mothers were aware of the abuse until after those images were found.

The women testified that Williams had befriended them in some way, or offered them payment for odd jobs, at a time when they were addicted to drugs. Defense attorneys attempted to discredit the women’s statements, calling them “junkies,” and stating that the prosecution was unable to show burden of proof in the case.

A lawsuit is also pending against the Johnson City Police, accusing them of failing to protect the victims by allegedly taking money from Williams in exchange for ignoring his string of crimes. The suit claims that police knew about the abuse as early as July 2020 and failed to properly investigate reports.

Williams will receive a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years on each count, with a maximum sentence of 30 years on each, for a possibility of up to 90 years total. He will remain in jail until his sentencing on February 24, 2025.

But, if memory serves he was also involved in real estate in some fashion.
And reportedly, he operated a number of “shell companies”.

  1. The death penalty is the only appropriate punishment for this type of criminal. Hanging is one traditional punishment that should be used for these heinous crimes but I prefer public stoning to death.
