Having set a deadline of September 16, 2026, for Flock cameras to be removed from Knox County, Tennessee property, and Flock indicating it will take until October 7, 2026, to remove cameras, Mayor Henderson has created a way to neutralize the cameras.
County workers are installing covers on the cameras.
The white vinyl cover pictured below slips over the camera unit and blocks the lens, providing a means to disable the cameras until all are removed. The blocking device is called a “personal privacy shield.”
The mayor posted as follows on her social media page.
“Flock has notified us that they won’t have the cameras down until Oct. 7, [2026] missing the Sept. 16 deadline. Don’t worry, we found a cost-effective way to protect your rights, now.
We put our brightest minds on designing a personal privacy shield to place over the cameras throughout the county until Flock has taken them down.” – said Mayor Betsy Henderson, Knox County
Knox County Commission voted unanimously on Monday August 31, 2026, to remove Flock cameras from Knox County. Coverage of that vote is linked here.
