The Tennessee Conservative Staff –
Several young students have been arrested in recent days after threats were made against a number of Knox County Schools.
On Tuesday, September 10, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office released a statement that they were “actively investigating an online threat that has been circulating, naming numerous schools.”
KCSO states that the threats are “vague and unspecific.” They are being assisted by FBI Knoxville and the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security and have stated that they plan to hold those making the threats accountable.
A 7th grade female student from West Valley Middle School was arrested later that afternoon. Investigators have noted that the girl, who has not been identified, was one of the individuals responsible for posting the threat on social media.
An 8th grade student was arrested earlier on Tuesday in relation to a threat made against Carter Middle School.
Tuesday night, an 11-year-old student was also arrested and charged with making a threat against Vine Middle School.
These threats come on the heels of reports from last Friday of two students being arrested for threats of mass violence at Halls High School.
KCSO is involved in continuing investigations into threats made against Halls Middle School, Halls High School, Gibbs High School, and Hardin Valley Academy as well. They have taken additional safety precautions in all affected schools as well.
A complete list of schools named in the threats has not been released.
