The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

Two Tennessee lawmakers are sponsoring new legislation that would update the state seal to include the words “In God We Trust.”

State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City-District 3) filed Senate Bill 0420 (SB0420) on January 24. The companion House Bill 0771 (HB0771) is sponsored by State Representative John Holsclaw (R-Elizabethton-District 4) and was filed on January 30.

The bill’s summary states –  As introduced, requests the governor to submit a new design of the great seal of the state of Tennessee by July 1, 2025, that incorporates the language “In God We Trust.” – Amends TCA Title 4, Chapter 1, Part 3.

SB0420 was passed on first and second consideration and has been referred to the Senate State and Local Government Committee. No date has been set for that committee to consider the bill.

If passed, Governor Lee would be asked to submit a new design to the secretary of state by July 1, 2025.

Gov. Lee to approve state seal. HA! He’ll give a no bid side deal to a pal. Like Tax’em Haslam did w.$40,000 deal w.the “T” state stationary logo.
It should be a state contest to all students. No side deals.

I agree with Molly. Make the state seal a contest for the students. Make them feel they are important to the State of Tennessee.

Kind of hypocritical adding that, when last I checked state sanctioned gambling is still a sin, according to God.
