The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

Crime in Memphis is at a record high this year, with numbers exceeding crime rates in Detroit, a city that shares many similarities with the Bluff City.

Memphis is coming in with 368 homicides to date this year, while Detroit saw a record low since 1966 with 228 homicides.

Detroit mayor Mike Duggan says that a great deal of the credit for the lowered numbers goes to improvements made in their court system.

Bennie Cobb, a former Shelby County deputy and law enforcement analyst, says, “It’s amazing. For years and years, Detroit was the bottom of the heap. Detroit was the butt of everybody’s crime stories.”

“Detroit is having a major transformation as far as violent crimes and homicides go and that’s really, really good,” Cobb continued.

Cobb believes that Memphis could see a vast improvement if they would work out a partnership between city leadership, prosecutors, and law enforcement officers.

“We are having infighting and outfighting now among those entities – the DA, mayor, police chief, sheriff, and juvenile judge. Those entities, if they are going to fight, leave it in the house and don’t bring it out to the public,” he stated.

This information comes just after Senator Brent Taylor requested an investigation into a judge and Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy for what he considers to be unjust practices.

Memphis residents are not waiting around for answers; instead, they are lining up for means of protecting themselves.

Nearly 700 steering wheel locks were given out by Memphis Police in a giveaway event held at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

Residents arrived several hours in advance of the event, in hopes of securing one of the steering wheel locks. With almost 15,000 car thefts reported this year in the city, people are looking to make it more difficult for thieves to take their vehicles.

  1. Do NOT visit Memphis or move there. It is incredibly dangerous and has been for many years. Tell your friends and family. It is truly one of the most dangerous cities in the US and the most dangerous in TN. If you must go, be very alert and carry a gun. Realize that someone might walk up behind you and shoot you in the back.

Google “Memphis Chamber CEO murdered” and you can read about how in 2018 the President / CEO of the Memphis Chamber was shot in the back of the head. It was a random robbery – crooks just driving around looking for someone to rob. Notice that they didn’t say “Put your hands up and give us your money”. Just killed him. He had moved Downtown to prove that Memphis was safe. Have you ever heard a story like this?

Recently a St. Jude physician and his wife and daughter were murdered – they were out for a walk. Another random robbery. They moved to Memphis from Brooklyn.

I’ve heard many stories – friends driving through shoot outs, home invasions, murders that seemed to not have a motive. Apparently, a lot of armed criminals drive around looking for someone to rob. Workers can’t even go up an electric pole without an armed guard on the ground because someone will stop, pull out a gun and say “Throw down your wallet”.

Need more outrageous examples? Have you ever heard of a “Memphis Door”? It’s to stop home invasions. Can you guess why FedEx sent an email telling employees to close the blinds if they were working after dark? (Clue – think “snipers”). Ever heard of the “dead-eye gang”? I saw one. They walk around like zombies – weird, scary and unforgettable.

I promise what I’ve written is true. If I lived there I would always be armed and perhaps wear a sign that says “I have a gun.”

  2. Vote for the Liberal Democrat’s again and again while expecting a different outcome!!!! If your mindset don’t change your City will not!!!

  3. This comes down to, a criminal society is no more than a reflection of a criminal government.
Keep looking the other way people until murder lands in your front yard!
It was a former president that once made the statement, “when it comes to politics nothing happens by accident, it is all planned out.
    This is all by design.
The one thing Trump did do was to force the Inside the Beltway to come to the surface of the Big Potomac Septic Tank.
