Midtown Nashville Residents Call For Bar Shutdowns Amid Increasing Violence

The Tennessee Conservative Staff –

Leaders in Metro Nashville are looking for changes as crime has increased at several local bars over the past year.

Police have been called to Demonbreun Street in Midtown more than 1700 times since June 13, 2022.

Most of the calls are coming from specific bars on the street. Most bars averaged between 30 and 60 calls for the year, but others had more than 10 times the average number of calls.

Vibes Bar and Lounge had almost 700 calls, while around 900 more calls came from 3000 Bar Nashville and Tin Roof.

Because the two latter businesses share an address at 1516-A Demonbreun Street, police records did not differentiate which calls came from which bar. However, 3000 Bar Nashville has been padlocked since it was declared a public nuisance in April after more than two years of calls regarding violence and disorderly conduct.

Those in the community are calling for a similar declaration to be made for Vibes Bar and Lounge as well. A petition on Change.org has already amassed over 1500 signatures, with people commenting about constant trouble from the bar, including reports of gunshots, harassment, and other violence.

The district attorney’s office has not released any information regarding the possibility of a shutdown for the bar, but they have noted that they are working closely with Metro Nashville police to monitor complaints.
