A Millersville City Commissioner resigned from his position after being arrested last week on charges of child sex abuse.
76-year-old David Gregory, who has served as a commissioner since 2012, was charged with multiple incidences of sexual abuse against children dating back to 1987.
The charges include eight separate counts that include sexual abuse of a child as well as aggravated sexual battery.
According to allegations, at least three children were involved, with two of those being younger than 13 at the time of the incident. Seven of the charges allegedly occurred between 2024 and 2026.
Gregory submitted his resignation the day after he was arrested through a letter from his attorney.
Millersville Mayor Lincoln Atwood released the following statement in part:
“As a government official of Millersville, it would not be appropriate for me to comment on this case. I have full confidence in those investigating. I also have full faith in our judicial system. No one is above the law.”
A statement was also released from the Hendersonville Missionary Baptist Church, where Gregory was a member:
“We take this with the utmost seriousness and he is suspended from all church duties and activities pending the outcome of all investigations.”
If convicted, Gregory faces 15 to 60 years in prison for one of the charges alone.
He is being held in the Sumner County Jail on a $1,500,000 total bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 26.
